Data storytelling: Using data with and for people

We have more data available to us than ever before, but much of it is not used in data storytelling. This presentation unpacks the skills of data storytelling, both in terms of identifying insights and thinking about action. When we are able to engage in data storytelling we can use data in a way that benefits our people, organisations, and those whom we aim to serve, and this should always be the goal for any data we collect.

Dr Selena Fisk

Selena is a data storyteller who is passionate about helping others sort through the numbers to tell the real stories and lead positive change. Data is an increasing presence in our work and home life, yet Selena recognises that this doesn't always come naturally, so she seeks to build skill in others and make the use of data less daunting. Selena has mentored hundreds of executive leaders, middle managers and employees in data storytelling, with the goal of benefitting the organisations and communities in which they work. Selena's book, 'I'm not a numbers person: How to make good decisions in a data rich world" was published in April this year by Major Street Publishing.

Escalating your IM Profile

Having worked as a subject matter expert for over 35 years and then as the RIMPA CEO for the last 4 years, Anne continues to face the challenge that most IM practitioners encounter – escalating the industry’s profile!!

Making records management sexy has always been Anne’s catch phrase and her endeavours to achieve this continue. Anne is well positioned to present on this topic, working in organisations with varying cultures and attitudes.

Anne will make you think and possibly disagree about concepts and tactics that are aimed at elevating your profile within your own organisations.

Protecting information wherever it goes - but what's it like?

A key feature of Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Purview is the ability to apply protections to documents and emails that stay with the information even if it leaves your environment, there are lots of tools and configuration options for the IT and IM Administrators but what's it like for the business user?

In this session we'll adopt the personas of two business people, one inside the organisation and one outside, we'll step through what to expect when sending an email and document that carry information protections and what it's like for recipient to receive and gain access to the information.

By walking in the footsteps of the people and information we're helping to protect, this helps us better preparate for adoption and change management of modern information security and protection capabilities and the benefits they bring to everyone.
