A seasoned professional and hands-on practitioner, with 27 years industry experience gained in both the UK and Australia. Having just spent almost three years as the Digital Archivist at the Shire of Yarra Ranges, I took up a position in March 2021 as Team Leader to the Information Governance & Advisory Unit at Mornington Peninsula Shire Council.
My first love is Archives about which I am a total nerd, closely followed by wider ecologies of knowledge management and most things Information Governance, with particular geeky interests in ethics around data and information, and how archives can be appropriated to serve all kinds of socio-cultural purposes. I am the perpetual student, always learning new things about all things information!!
I am also a University Lecturer to postgraduate records and archives students within Curtin University's School of Media, Creative Arts and Social Inquiry. I have carried out many training courses for RIMPA in Records Management, Digitisation, Archiving, Sentencing, and Digital Preservation. I am also the current Vice Chair on the Local Government Information Governance Committee at the Municipal Association of Victoria.
Beyond the office, I enjoy writing fiction and I'm a member of the Australian Society of Authors, Writers Victoria and a graduate of the Faber Writing Academy at Allen & Unwin in Melbourne. I also enjoy rock painting (look up #VicRocks on Facebook) and spending time with friends and family in my beautiful home district of the Dandenong Ranges, just outside Melbourne.
