A seasoned professional and hands-on practitioner, with 25 years industry experience gained in both the UK and Australia. I moved to Melbourne in 2017 from the UK, and am currently employed as Digital Archivist with the Shire of Yarra Ranges to the northeast of Melbourne.
My first love is Archives about which I am a total nerd, closely followed by wider ecologies of knowledge management and most things Information Governance, with particular geeky interests in ethics around data and information, and how archives can be appropriated to serve all kinds of socio-cultural purposes. I am the perpetual student, always learning new things about all kinds of stuff!
I am the current Vice President of RIMPA's Vic/Tas Branch and the editor of our Vic/Tas Vocal Newsletter. This year I was also elected as President to our Vic/Tas Local Government Chapter. I carry out regular training for RIMPA in Records Management, Digitisation, Archiving, Sentencing, and Digital Preservation.
Outside of RIMPA, I also sit on the Municipal Association of Victoria's Information Governance Committee and I am also a Guest Lecturer & Theses Examiner for Curtin University in WA.
Beyond the office, I enjoy writing fiction and I'm a member of the Australian Society of Authors, Writers Victoria and a graduate of the Faber Writing Academy at Allen & Unwin in Melbourne. I also enjoy rock painting (look up #VicRocks on Facebook) and spending time with friends and family in my beautiful home district of the Dandenong Ranges, just outside Melbourne.
